Abdul Salam Abdul Mouneim Cheaib - Curriculum vitae

  • He is born in Saida in 1937 and received his primary and secondary education at the American Evangelical School in Saida, then at the International College in Beirut (IC) and completed his university studies at the American University in Beirut.
  • He obtained from Sorbonne University in Paris in 1965 the PHD in law after he had completed the Bachelor’s Degree in law at the Lebanese University in Beirut.
  • A lawyer and a University Professor in the Law Faculties and the President of the Defense Committee of Public Liberties and Human Rights at the Bar of Beirut since its constitution in 1996.
  • Many legal and administrative duties were entrusted to him whereof he worked as a legal adviser at the Ministries Council Presidency in 1974 and he was a member of the Supreme Committee for the Administrative Reform.
  • As he worked as a legal and administrative adviser for each of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Labor.
  • He participated to draw up the election law (Fouad Boutros Law) in the Supreme Panel for Electoral Reform in 2006-2008.
  • Activist since his secondary studies in the public field where he advocated the student movement in 1961 then he was the first President of the Association of the Law Faculty Students at the Lebanese University and the Secretary of the National Union of Lebanese Student, as well as he supported the National Liberation Movement and the Palestinian Cause, particularly, recently when the aggression occurred on Gaza.
  • As well as the missing persons issues that he represented and the Lebanese Government in Geneva and he still works for them.
  • He has many lectures and works in the legal field, particularly in the labor and human rights matters.
